There are five eclipses in 2027: an annular solar eclipse in Aquarius on 6 Feb, a total solar eclipse in Leo on 2 Aug and three penumbral lunar eclipses. Below are their exact times and degrees, where the solar eclipses can be seen, and how to find where they fall in your birth chart.
Eclipse seasons and the Leo–Aquarius axis
Eclipses happen only when a new or full Moon falls close to the lunar nodes, the two points where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's. The Sun reaches the nodes about every six months, so eclipses arrive in seasons: a solar eclipse at the new Moon and a lunar eclipse at the full Moon about two weeks before or after.
The mean North Node is in Aquarius from 18 August 2026 until 7 March 2028, with the South Node opposite in Leo. That is why three of the five 2027 eclipses fall on the Leo–Aquarius axis. The other two are lunar eclipses with the Moon in a neighbouring sign: Virgo on 20 Feb and Capricorn on 18 Jul. For what the nodes mean in a chart, see the North Node and eclipses.

The two 2027 eclipse seasons
February. The annular solar eclipse at 17°37′ Aquarius on 6 Feb is followed by a penumbral lunar eclipse at 1°59′ Virgo on 20 Feb. Mars is retrograde through both, and Mercury turns retrograde between them. Full detail: the February 2027 eclipses.
July and August. A penumbral lunar eclipse at 25°57′ Capricorn on 18 Jul opens the season, the total solar eclipse at 9°55′ Leo on 2 Aug is its peak, and a second penumbral lunar eclipse at 24°04′ Aquarius on 17 Aug closes it. Full detail: the August 2027 eclipses.
Finding your eclipse house
The house. Find each eclipse degree in your birth chart. The house that holds it is the area of life the eclipse is read as stirring up: solar eclipses for new starts there, lunar eclipses for endings, results and release. House positions depend on an accurate birth time.
Natal planets and angles. An eclipse within about 3° of a natal planet, the Ascendant or the MC is the one to watch, and it is read as the most personal kind. Astrologers allow a wider margin for the season as a whole, so a planet a little further away can still feel the period. The planet guides cover eclipses on the lights: the Sun and eclipses and the Moon and eclipses.
A free birth chart shows your houses and planet degrees, and your timing report shows which eclipses and transits actually touch your chart. For the year's retrogrades, see the retrograde calendar.
Three penumbral lunar eclipses
All three 2027 lunar eclipses are penumbral: the Moon passes through Earth's faint outer shadow but misses the dark inner shadow, so the dimming is slight and easy to miss. Astrologers weigh them less than total or partial lunar eclipses and read them much like a strong full Moon, unless the degree sits right on a natal planet or angle. The next lunar eclipse that reaches the inner shadow is the partial one on 12 Jan 2028 at 21°33′ Cancer.
The 2026 eclipses
The 2026 solar eclipses were on the same axis, at 28°50′ Aquarius on 17 Feb 2026 and 20°02′ Leo on 12 Aug 2026. The full record is in the 2026 eclipse season.
Method. Dates and degrees are calculated by our ephemeris engine (tropical zodiac). Times are in UTC and cut to the minute; degrees are cut to the arc-minute, not rounded. The meanings are traditional astrological interpretation, not astronomy.
