The annular solar eclipse in Aquarius

A solar eclipse is a new Moon with extra force, traditionally read as a start that arrives on its own schedule. In Aquarius, the themes are friendships, groups, technology, independence and plans for the future, so this eclipse is linked to new alliances, a change of direction in a community or cause, and breaking from a routine that no longer fits. An annular eclipse is read as a little less absolute than a total one, since the Sun is never fully covered. See the Sun in Aquarius and the Sun and eclipses.

The penumbral lunar eclipse in Virgo

A lunar eclipse is a full Moon read as a culmination: something comes to light or to an end. In Virgo the focus is work, health, daily routines and the details, so this one is linked to finishing or dropping a habit, a job matter coming to a head, or seeing clearly what needs fixing. It is penumbral, the gentlest kind, so it is usually felt strongly only near a natal planet or angle. See the Moon in Virgo and the Moon and eclipses.

Mars and Mercury retrograde during this season

Mars is retrograde from 10 Jan 2027 to 1 Apr 2027 and moves back from Virgo into Leo on 21 Feb, the day after the lunar eclipse in UTC. Mercury stations retrograde at 5°58′ Pisces on 9 Feb and stations direct on 3 Mar 2027 at 20°55′ Aquarius, 3°18′ short of the solar eclipse degree at 17°37′ Aquarius.
