The Virgo phase
From 10 January to 21 February, Mars moves backwards through the early degrees of Virgo. Traditionally this is a time to repair systems, revisit work methods and health routines, and finish jobs left half done rather than start new ones. See Mars in Virgo for the sign's style.
The Leo phase
From 21 February to 1 April, Mars is retrograde in Leo, where it stations direct at 20°55′ Leo. The focus turns to pride, creative ambition and the urge to be seen, all of which are read as needing a rethink before the next push. Mars stays in Leo until 14 May. See Mars in Leo.
Eclipses and Mercury retrograde inside this period
Both February 2027 eclipses fall while Mars is retrograde: the annular solar eclipse at 17°37′ Aquarius on 6 Feb and the penumbral lunar eclipse at 1°59′ Virgo on 20 Feb.
