Venus in the birth chart: every sign and every house, with real ephemeris dates

What does Venus mean in a birth chart? Venus shows what you find beautiful, how you attract and choose, and what you value enough to keep. Its sign describes your style of love and taste, its house shows the part of life where pleasure, money and relationships gather, and its aspects show what your affections have to negotiate with.

Venus is never far from the Sun, so your Venus sign is always your Sun sign or one of the two signs on either side. It moves quickly most of the time, then slows, stops and turns retrograde for about 42.1 days roughly every 19.2 months, and that rhythm decides how long it stays in each sign. Every date and position below comes from Astrology-API.io, the chart engine behind our reports (tropical zodiac, geocentric apparent positions, Placidus houses, mean node), queried for this page. The orbs are our own published site rule. Where the astrology is interpretation rather than astronomy, we say so.

How to use this page. Find your Venus sign in the dates table inside each sign section (2024–2028 dates are listed; for other years, use your chart). Dates are in UT, so if you were born within a day of a change, check your chart. Your Venus house needs an accurate birth time (why). Then read Venus and the Sun, the aspects, compatibility, your Venus return and Venus retrograde.

Four things that change how Venus works in your chart:

  1. Essential dignity. Venus is at home in Taurus and Libra, exalted in Pisces (traditionally strongest at 27°), in detriment in Aries and Scorpio, and in fall in Virgo (Ptolemy, Tetrabiblos I.17–19; Lilly, Christian Astrology, 1647). A debilitated Venus still loves. It loves in a less conventional currency.
  2. Sect. Venus is the benefic of the night team. In a night chart (Sun below the horizon) its gifts tend to arrive more cleanly. In a day chart Jupiter is the in-sect benefic, and Venus's pleasures can come mixed with more complication (Hellenistic doctrine; Brennan, Hellenistic Astrology, 2017).
  3. Morning or evening star. Venus rising before the Sun (a morning star) was read in tradition as more active and outgoing, and Venus setting after the Sun (an evening star) as more receptive and reflective. Each covers 50% of births. See Venus and the Sun.
  4. Aspects within orb. Venus contacts to the Moon, Mars or an angle make love and attraction personal. Contacts with Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto show what your affections must reckon with: duty, freedom, idealism or intensity.

Venus in the signs

Your Venus sign describes your style of love and value: what attracts you, how you show affection, and what you will pay for, in money or in effort. Venus usually passes through a sign in a few weeks, but in a retrograde year it can stay for months, so people born close together can share a Venus sign for much longer than usual.

What does Venus in Aries mean?

Venus in Aries means you love by pursuing. Attraction is quick, direct and physical, and you would rather make the first move than wait to be chosen. You value honesty, courage and a bit of challenge. This is Venus in detriment, so patience and compromise are learned skills. The gift is wholehearted, uncomplicated affection.

Ephemeris facts. Venus spends 8.7% of its time in Aries, usually around 24.7 days per visit. Retrograde years matter more here than in most signs. Venus turned retrograde in Aries in 1953, 1961, 1969, 1977, 1985, 1993, 2001, 2009, 2017, 2025, 2033, 2041 and 2049 (every eight years in 1950–2050), and in those years it can stay for months: the longest Aries stay ran 2 Feb 1985 – 6 Jun 1985 (124 days). The 2025 retrograde began on 2 Mar 2025 at 10°50' Aries and ended on 13 Apr 2025 at 24°37' Pisces, with Venus between Earth and Sun on 23 Mar 2025 at 2°39' Aries. In March 2026 Venus met Neptune (1°17' Aries) and Saturn (2°38' Aries) a day apart at the start of Aries. Because Venus stays close to the Sun, Venus in Aries is only possible with a Sun in Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus or Gemini.

Venus in Aries Dates (UT)
2024 5 Apr 2024 – 29 Apr 2024 (24 days)
2025 4 Feb 2025 – 27 Mar 2025 (51 days)
2025 30 Apr 2025 – 6 Jun 2025 (37 days)
2026 6 Mar 2026 – 30 Mar 2026 (24 days)
2027 20 Apr 2027 – 14 May 2027 (24 days)
2028 7 Feb 2028 – 4 Mar 2028 (26 days)

What it is like. Aries is cardinal fire ruled by Mars, the planet opposite Venus in temperament. People with this placement often fall fast, say what they feel, and lose interest when the chase ends. They are drawn to confident, energetic partners and enjoy a relationship with some sparring in it. The risk is impatience: mistaking intensity for compatibility, or leaving before trust has had time to form.

The gift is courage in love: you make the first move so others don't have to. The work is staying once the novelty fades. Practical step: when a relationship gets quiet, start something new together rather than looking elsewhere for the spark.

What does Venus in Taurus mean?

Venus in Taurus means you love through the senses and through loyalty. Touch, food, comfort and time spent together are your love language, and you are slow to commit but steady once you do. You value security, quality and beauty you can hold. This is Venus in its own sign, so its pleasures come naturally.

Ephemeris facts. Taurus gets 8.07% of Venus's time, around 24.9 days per visit, and it almost never turns retrograde here. Between 1950 and 2050 a Venus retrograde began in Taurus only in 1953 and 2044, and Venus stations in Taurus only 15 times across 1900–2100, against 28 in Gemini. So Venus in Taurus is usually a short visit. Its longest stay in the whole 200 years is only 74 days (23 Apr 2100 – 6 Jul 2100). Venus met Uranus at 29°54' Taurus on 24 Apr 2026 and Jupiter at 29°23' Taurus on 23 May 2024. A Taurus Venus pairs with a Sun in Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini or Cancer.

Venus in Taurus Dates (UT)
2024 29 Apr 2024 – 23 May 2024 (24 days)
2025 6 Jun 2025 – 4 Jul 2025 (28 days)
2026 30 Mar 2026 – 24 Apr 2026 (25 days)
2027 14 May 2027 – 8 Jun 2027 (25 days)
2028 4 Mar 2028 – 3 Apr 2028 (30 days)

What it is like. Taurus is fixed earth, and Venus here is at its most physical and patient. People with this placement usually want a relationship that feels like home: reliable rituals, a beautiful environment, affection that is shown rather than talked about. They are often good with money, gardens, food and craft. The risk is possessiveness, or staying in something comfortable long after it stopped being alive.

The gift is devotion that lasts. The work is to let change in. Practical step: once a season, try a new pleasure together (a place, a food, a way of spending a weekend) so comfort keeps growing rather than hardening.

What does Venus in Gemini mean?

Venus in Gemini means you fall in love through conversation. Wit, curiosity and variety attract you, and you need a partner who is also a friend you can talk to for hours. You show love through messages, ideas and play. The shadow is restlessness, or keeping your options open so long that nobody gets close.

Ephemeris facts. Gemini is where Venus spends the most time: 8.91% of all days, because it turns retrograde here in 1956, 1964, 1972, 1980, 1988, 1996, 2004, 2012, 2020, 2028, 2036 and 2044. In those years it can stay for months: the longest stay was 3 Apr 2012 – 7 Aug 2012 (126 days), one of the longest Venus visits to any sign in 1900–2100. The 2020 retrograde ran from 13 May 2020 at 21°50' Gemini to 25 Jun 2020 at 5°20' Gemini, and the next is 10 May 2028 at 19°41' Gemini to 22 Jun 2028 at 3°11' Gemini. Venus passed behind the Sun (superior conjunction) in Gemini on 4 Jun 2024 at 14°30' Gemini. A Gemini Venus pairs with a Sun in Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer or Leo.

Venus in Gemini Dates (UT)
2024 23 May 2024 – 17 Jun 2024 (25 days)
2025 4 Jul 2025 – 31 Jul 2025 (27 days)
2026 24 Apr 2026 – 19 May 2026 (25 days)
2027 8 Jun 2027 – 3 Jul 2027 (25 days)
2028 3 Apr 2028 – 7 Aug 2028 (126 days)

What it is like. Gemini is mutable air ruled by Mercury. People with this placement are often charming, funny and socially quick. They flirt with ideas as much as people and are bored by partners who don't talk. They may love more than one kind of person over a lifetime, or need a relationship with lots of variety built in. The risk is treating feelings like information: discussed, analysed, but not felt.

The gift is lightness and friendship inside love. The work is depth. Practical step: in your next serious conversation, say what you feel before what you think.

What does Venus in Cancer mean?

Venus in Cancer means you love by caring for people. You are drawn to emotional safety, loyalty and family, and you show love by feeding, remembering and protecting. Home is where you feel most beautiful. The shadow is moodiness, clinging, or keeping score of care given and not returned.

Ephemeris facts. About 8.29% of births have Venus in Cancer, around 25 days per visit. Cancer used to host Venus retrogrades every eight years (1956, 1964, 1972, 1980 and 1988), but the eight-year pattern slips back a few degrees each cycle, and those retrogrades now fall in Gemini, so there are none in Cancer after 1988 in 1950–2050. Venus met Jupiter twice in Cancer within a year: on 12 Aug 2025 at 14°04' Cancer and on 9 Jun 2026 at 25°47' Cancer. A Cancer Venus pairs with a Sun in Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo or Virgo.

Venus in Cancer Dates (UT)
2024 17 Jun 2024 – 11 Jul 2024 (24 days)
2025 31 Jul 2025 – 25 Aug 2025 (25 days)
2026 19 May 2026 – 13 Jun 2026 (25 days)
2027 3 Jul 2027 – 27 Jul 2027 (24 days)
2028 7 Aug 2028 – 5 Sep 2028 (29 days)

What it is like. Cancer is cardinal water ruled by the Moon. People with this placement often want to build a nest with a partner and bring friends into the family. They are tender, sentimental and loyal, and they remember anniversaries and old wounds equally well. The risk is love as protection: holding on tightly, or using care to avoid being vulnerable.

The gift is making people feel at home. The work is asking directly for what you need. Practical step: replace one hint this week with a plain request.

What does Venus in Leo mean?

Venus in Leo means you love generously and want to be adored. Romance should feel like a celebration: grand gestures, loyalty, admiration and fun. You give warmth freely and expect it back. The shadow is pride, or needing an audience for affection. The gift is a heart that makes others feel special.

Ephemeris facts. Venus spends 8.7% of its time in Leo, around 24.9 days per visit, and turns retrograde here in 1959, 1967, 1975, 1983, 1991, 1999, 2007, 2015, 2023, 2031, 2039 and 2047. The 2023 retrograde ran from 23 Jul 2023 at 28°36' Leo to 4 Sep 2023 at 12°12' Leo, with the inferior conjunction on 13 Aug 2023 at 20°28' Leo. The next is 20 Jul 2031 at 26°26' Leo to 1 Sep 2031 at 10°01' Leo. Leo's longest stay in 1900–2100 is still ahead: 5 Jun 2047 – 9 Oct 2047 (126 days). Venus opposed Pluto from Leo at 5°07' Leo on 17 Jun 2026. A Leo Venus pairs with a Sun in Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo or Libra.

Venus in Leo Dates (UT)
2024 11 Jul 2024 – 5 Aug 2024 (25 days)
2025 25 Aug 2025 – 19 Sep 2025 (25 days)
2026 13 Jun 2026 – 9 Jul 2026 (26 days)
2027 27 Jul 2027 – 20 Aug 2027 (24 days)
2028 5 Sep 2028 – 2 Oct 2028 (27 days)

What it is like. Leo is fixed fire ruled by the Sun. People with this placement are often romantic, theatrical and loyal, the partner who plans the surprise and remembers to say "I'm proud of you". They are attracted to confidence, style and people who shine. The risk is wounded pride: withdrawing warmth when they feel unappreciated, or choosing partners who look good over partners who are good to them.

The gift is love that feels like sunlight. The work is generosity without applause. Practical step: do one kind thing for a partner or friend this week that they will never find out about.

What does Venus in Virgo mean?

Venus in Virgo means you love through attention and practical care. You show affection by noticing details, solving problems and improving daily life, and you are attracted to competence, intelligence and modesty. This is Venus in fall, so self-criticism can block romance. The gift is devotion that shows up every day.

Ephemeris facts. Venus spends 8.43% of its time in Virgo, around 24.8 days per visit. It turned retrograde in Virgo in 1951, 1959, 1967, 1975, 1983, 1991, 1999, 2007 and 2015, and then the pattern moved on into Libra, so there are no Virgo retrogrades left in 1950–2050 after 2015. In 2026 Venus was in Virgo for 9 Jul 2026 – 6 Aug 2026, and during that stay it squared Uranus (4°18' Virgo on 13 Jul 2026) and Mars (21°14' Virgo on 29 Jul 2026). Its next Virgo stay begins on 20 Aug 2027, and on 26 Aug 2027 Venus meets Jupiter there, at 6°34' Virgo. A Virgo Venus pairs with a Sun in Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra or Scorpio.

Venus in Virgo Dates (UT)
2024 5 Aug 2024 – 29 Aug 2024 (24 days)
2025 19 Sep 2025 – 13 Oct 2025 (24 days)
2026 9 Jul 2026 – 6 Aug 2026 (28 days)
2027 20 Aug 2027 – 14 Sep 2027 (25 days)
2028 2 Oct 2028 – 27 Oct 2028 (25 days)

What it is like. Virgo is mutable earth ruled by Mercury. Venus here prefers useful love to dramatic love: the partner who fixes your bike, sends the article you mentioned, or quietly keeps the household running. People with this placement can be shy about romance and slow to trust compliments. They are discerning, sometimes to the point of finding a flaw in every possible partner.

The gift is love as service, which is real love. The work is to receive as well as fix. Practical step: when someone compliments you, say "thank you" and nothing else.

Venus in Virgo: common questions

  • Why is Venus weak, or "falling", in Virgo? Traditional astrology places Venus's fall (its least comfortable sign) at 27° Virgo, opposite its exaltation at 27° Pisces. Virgo's precise, analytical approach is the opposite of Venus's urge to merge and enjoy. "Weak" means love is expressed through effort and discernment, not that it is lacking. Vedic astrology calls the same placement debilitation; see the Vedic note.
  • What are Venus in Virgo people attracted to? Competence, intelligence, kindness shown through actions, good manners and a well-kept life. Usually not flashiness. They fall for the person who remembers how they take their coffee.
  • How does Venus in Virgo love? By helping. Expect practical gestures, careful listening and steady loyalty rather than grand declarations.
  • Who is Venus in Virgo compatible with? Traditionally the other earth Venus signs (Taurus and Capricorn), which share its practical values, and the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces), which soften it. Pisces, the opposite sign, attracts and challenges it. Compatibility needs both full charts; see Venus compatibility.
  • Is Venus in Virgo a good placement? It is a strong placement for craft, health, service and loyal partnership, and a harder one for spontaneity and self-acceptance.
  • What happens to Venus in Virgo in 2026? Transiting Venus was in Virgo during 9 Jul 2026 – 6 Aug 2026. For what that touched in your chart, your timing report calculates it.

What does Venus in Libra mean?

Venus in Libra means you love through partnership, fairness and grace. Harmony, beauty and good conversation attract you, and you are at your best in a relationship of equals. Venus rules Libra, so charm and diplomacy come naturally. The shadow is people-pleasing, or avoiding conflict until resentment builds.

Ephemeris facts. Venus is in Libra 8.16% of the time, around 24.5 days per visit. Libra has only recently started hosting Venus retrogrades: they fall here in 2010, 2018, 2026, 2034, 2042 and 2050, a cycle that began in 2010. In 2026 Venus was in Libra for 6 Aug 2026 – 10 Sep 2026, opposing Neptune (4°07' Libra) and Saturn (14°12' Libra) along the way. It turned retrograde in Scorpio and comes back into Libra on 25 Oct 2026, turning direct on 14 Nov 2026 at 22°52' Libra. Venus will meet Jupiter in Libra on 10 Nov 2028 (16°26' Libra). A Libra Venus pairs with a Sun in Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio or Sagittarius.

Venus in Libra Dates (UT)
2024 29 Aug 2024 – 23 Sep 2024 (25 days)
2025 13 Oct 2025 – 6 Nov 2025 (24 days)
2026 6 Aug 2026 – 10 Sep 2026 (35 days)
2026 25 Oct 2026 – 4 Dec 2026 (40 days)
2027 14 Sep 2027 – 8 Oct 2027 (24 days)
2028 27 Oct 2028 – 21 Nov 2028 (25 days)

What it is like. Libra is cardinal air, and Venus here is social, aesthetic and relationship-minded. People with this placement often have an eye for design, a gift for hosting and a strong sense of fairness. They are attracted to elegance, intelligence and good manners. The risk is losing themselves in the other person's preferences, or staying in a relationship because ending it would be unpleasant.

The gift is making relationships beautiful and fair. The work is saying what you want. Practical step: in your next decision as a couple, state your preference first.

How it tends to show up: social ease and a talent for mediation; a design sense applied to your surroundings and your relationships; attraction to culture and fair exchange; and indecision when both sides of a question seem valid. Maturity here means choosing gracious honesty over polished avoidance.

What does Venus in Scorpio mean?

Venus in Scorpio means you love intensely and all the way. You want depth, loyalty and emotional honesty, and you are drawn to people with mystery and power. Trust is everything, and betrayal is hard to forgive. This is Venus in detriment, which makes love transformative rather than easy. The gift is devotion that survives anything.

Ephemeris facts. Venus is in Scorpio now (8°02' Scorpio, retrograde, on 8 Oct 2026). Its current visit runs 10 Sep 2026 – 25 Oct 2026. Because it turned retrograde on 3 Oct 2026 at 8°29' Scorpio, it falls back into Libra on 25 Oct 2026 and returns to Scorpio on 4 Dec 2026. Scorpio has hosted a Venus retrograde every eight years: 1954, 1962, 1970, 1978, 1986, 1994, 2002, 2010, 2018, 2026, 2034, 2042 and 2050. The longest Scorpio stay was 7 Sep 1978 – 7 Jan 1979 (122 days). This retrograde has Venus square Pluto 3 times: 15 Sep 2026 at 3°17' Scorpio; 20 Oct 2026 at 3°04' Scorpio; 9 Dec 2026 at 3°45' Scorpio. Venus also passes between Earth and Sun on 24 Oct 2026 at 0°45' Scorpio. A Scorpio Venus pairs with a Sun in Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius or Capricorn.

Venus in Scorpio Dates (UT)
2024 23 Sep 2024 – 17 Oct 2024 (24 days)
2025 6 Nov 2025 – 30 Nov 2025 (24 days)
2026 10 Sep 2026 – 25 Oct 2026 (45 days)
2026–27 4 Dec 2026 – 7 Jan 2027 (34 days)
2027 8 Oct 2027 – 1 Nov 2027 (24 days)
2028 21 Nov 2028 – 15 Dec 2028 (24 days)

What it is like. Scorpio is fixed water ruled by Mars (traditional) and Pluto (modern). People with Venus here rarely do casual: they want to know and be known completely. They are magnetic, private and fiercely loyal, and they can read what a partner isn't saying. The risk is jealousy, control or testing a partner's loyalty instead of trusting it.

The gift is intimacy that changes both people. The work is trust without surveillance. Practical step: when you feel suspicious, ask the question directly once, then let the answer stand.

The shadow is commitment-shyness or bluntness.

Ephemeris facts. Sagittarius is the sign Venus spends the least time in: 7.59%. That is because Venus almost never turns retrograde here. Between 1950 and 2050 it happened only in 1954, so even the longest Sagittarius stay in 1900–2100 was only 67 days (9 Oct 1906 – 15 Dec 1906). Venus met Jupiter twice in Sagittarius in 2019 (22 Jan 2019 at 16°04' Sagittarius; 24 Nov 2019 at 28°12' Sagittarius). It opposes Uranus from Sagittarius on 9 Jan 2027 (2°04' Sagittarius). A Sagittarius Venus pairs with a Sun in Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn or Aquarius.

Venus in Sagittarius Dates (UT)
2023–24 29 Dec 2023 – 23 Jan 2024 (25 days)
2024 17 Oct 2024 – 11 Nov 2024 (25 days)

2027 1 Nov 2027 – 25 Nov 2027 (24 days)
2028–29 15 Dec 2028 – 8 Jan 2029 (24 days)

What it is like. Sagittarius is mutable fire ruled by Jupiter, so Venus here is in a benefic's sign: generous, optimistic and playful. People with this placement are often attracted to foreigners, teachers, travellers and people with big ideas. They love laughter and honesty, and they hate feeling fenced in. The risk is leaving when real intimacy asks them to stay put.

The gift is love that grows both people's world. The work is making freedom and commitment the same thing. Practical step: plan the next adventure with your partner, not away from them.

What does Venus in Capricorn mean?

Venus in Capricorn means you love seriously and for the long term. You show affection through reliability, effort and building a shared future, and you are attracted to maturity, ambition and competence. Love often improves with age. The shadow is reserve, or treating relationships like a project to manage.

Ephemeris facts. Capricorn holds Venus 8.34% of the time, around 24.3 days per visit. Capricorn has taken over the eight-year retrograde slot that Aquarius used to hold: Venus turned retrograde here in 1966, 1974, 1981, 1989, 1997, 2005, 2013, 2021, 2029, 2037 and 2045. The 2021–22 retrograde ran from 19 Dec 2021 at 26°29' Capricorn to 29 Jan 2022 at 11°05' Capricorn, with Venus meeting Pluto 3 times (11 Dec 2021 / 25 Dec 2021 / 3 Mar 2022). The next runs from 16 Dec 2029 at 24°02' Capricorn to 26 Jan 2030 at 8°38' Capricorn, giving the longest Capricorn stay in 1900–2100: 5 Nov 2029 – 6 Mar 2030 (121 days). Venus met Mars in Capricorn at 18°09' Capricorn on 8 Jan 2026. A Capricorn Venus pairs with a Sun in Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius or Pisces.

Venus in Capricorn Dates (UT)
2024 23 Jan 2024 – 16 Feb 2024 (24 days)
2024 11 Nov 2024 – 7 Dec 2024 (26 days)
2025–26 24 Dec 2025 – 17 Jan 2026 (24 days)
2027 3 Feb 2027 – 1 Mar 2027 (26 days)
2027 25 Nov 2027 – 19 Dec 2027 (24 days)

What it is like. Capricorn is cardinal earth ruled by Saturn. People with this placement often take time to open up but are deeply loyal once they do. They value partners who are dependable and going somewhere, and may prefer older or more established partners. They show love by providing. The risk is coolness that hides tenderness, or measuring love by achievement.

The gift is love that endures. The work is play. Practical step: schedule time together with no purpose except enjoyment, and protect it like a meeting.

What does Venus in Aquarius mean?

Venus in Aquarius means you love as a friend first and on your own terms. You are attracted to originality, intelligence and independence, and you need a partner who respects your freedom and your causes. Unconventional relationships may suit you. The shadow is emotional detachment or keeping love at an intellectual distance.

Ephemeris facts. Venus occupies Aquarius on 8.22% of all days, around 24.4 days per visit. It turned retrograde in Aquarius in 1950, 1958, 1966, 1974, 1981, 1989, 1997 and 2005, and then the pattern moved into Capricorn, so there are no more Aquarius retrogrades in 1950–2050. Pluto is now in Aquarius, so Venus meets Pluto in this sign every year: 3°19' Aquarius on 20 Jan 2026 and 6°18' Aquarius on 6 Mar 2027. Venus met Jupiter in Aquarius on 11 Feb 2021, only 10.5° from the Sun. An Aquarius Venus pairs with a Sun in Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces or Aries.

Venus in Aquarius Dates (UT)
2024 16 Feb 2024 – 11 Mar 2024 (24 days)
2024–25 7 Dec 2024 – 3 Jan 2025 (27 days)
2026 17 Jan 2026 – 10 Feb 2026 (24 days)
2027 1 Mar 2027 – 26 Mar 2027 (25 days)
2027–28 19 Dec 2027 – 13 Jan 2028 (25 days)

What it is like. Aquarius is fixed air ruled by Saturn (traditional) and Uranus (modern). People with Venus here often value friendship, equality and shared ideals in love more than romance in the conventional sense. They are drawn to interesting minds and unusual people. The risk is retreating into theory when love becomes emotional, or confusing independence with distance.

The gift is love without possession. The work is warmth. Practical step: tell someone what they mean to you in a sentence that includes a feeling word.

What does Venus in Pisces mean?

Venus in Pisces means you love with compassion, imagination and devotion. Romance feels spiritual: you are drawn to soulful, artistic or vulnerable people, and you forgive easily. This is Venus's exaltation, where tradition says it is at its best. The shadow is idealising partners, rescuing, or losing yourself in love.

Ephemeris facts. Pisces holds Venus 8.08% of the time, around 24.6 days per visit. Pisces has just begun hosting Venus retrogrades: they fall here in 2009, 2017, 2025, 2033, 2041 and 2049. The 2025 retrograde ended on 13 Apr 2025 at 24°37' Pisces, close to Venus's exaltation degree. Venus met Jupiter in Pisces on 30 Apr 2022 at 27°58' Pisces, almost exactly on that exaltation degree. It met Neptune in Pisces in 2022 (24°28' Pisces) and 2023 (24°04' Pisces); the 2026 meeting (1°17' Aries) fell just over the border in Aries. A Pisces Venus pairs with a Sun in Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries or Taurus.

Venus in Pisces Dates (UT)
2024 11 Mar 2024 – 5 Apr 2024 (25 days)
2025 3 Jan 2025 – 4 Feb 2025 (32 days)
2025 27 Mar 2025 – 30 Apr 2025 (34 days)
2026 10 Feb 2026 – 6 Mar 2026 (24 days)
2027 26 Mar 2027 – 20 Apr 2027 (25 days)
2028 13 Jan 2028 – 7 Feb 2028 (25 days)

What it is like. Pisces is mutable water ruled by Jupiter (traditional) and Neptune (modern). Venus here is romantic, artistic and boundlessly kind. People with this placement often have musical or visual gifts and a talent for unconditional love. The risk is loving people's potential rather than who they are, or giving until there is nothing left.

The gift is love that heals. The work is boundaries. Practical step: before saying yes to someone in need, check whether you have the time, energy or money to give without resentment.

Venus in the houses

What does Venus's house mean? The house shows where in life you look for pleasure, beauty and connection: where you attract people and money, and where you are tempted to indulge. Like every house placement it depends on your birth time. Venus passes through all twelve houses each day.

Venus's house is really a time of day. Venus never strays more than about 47° from the Sun, so the house it occupies depends mostly on what time of day you were born. The Sun is in the 12th, 11th and 10th houses through the morning, the 9th, 8th and 7th through the afternoon, the 6th, 5th and 4th in the evening and the 3rd, 2nd and 1st after midnight, and Venus is always in the Sun's house or within a few houses of it. So if your chart shows Venus in the 10th but you were born at midnight, check your birth time and place. House sizes also vary with latitude and season, so the same local time can put Venus in different houses in London and Sydney.

What does Venus in the 1st house mean?

Venus in the 1st house means charm is part of how you meet the world. People tend to find you pleasant, attractive or easy to be around, and you care about appearance, manners and harmony. Relationships come to you more than you chase them. The shadow is vanity, people-pleasing, or relying on likeability instead of substance.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 1st house was just below the eastern horizon, about to rise. Because Venus stays close to the Sun, the Sun was usually near the eastern horizon too, so most of these are births in the hours around dawn.

What it is like. The 1st house is your body, style and first impression. Venus here often gives a gentle or graceful manner, a good eye for clothes and design, and an instinct for smoothing social situations. People with this placement are frequently told they look younger or kinder than they feel. The risk is that being liked becomes a job, and conflict feels like a threat to identity.

The gift is putting people at ease. The work is letting yourself be disliked occasionally. Practical step: disagree politely with someone this week and notice that the relationship survives.

What does Venus in the 2nd house mean?

Venus in the 2nd house means money, possessions and self-worth are linked to pleasure. You tend to earn through taste, people skills or beauty, and you enjoy spending on quality. Financial comfort often comes naturally. The shadow is overspending, or valuing yourself by what you own.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 2nd house would rise in the next few hours, so most of these are night or very early morning births. Venus is the natural ruler of the 2nd house (through Taurus, its own sign), so this is a comfortable placement in the traditional scheme.

What it is like. The 2nd covers income, possessions, skills and the felt sense of security. People with Venus here often have a talent for making money through design, hospitality, beauty, art or negotiation. They like beautiful things and feel safe with a cushion in the bank. The challenge is separating worth from wealth.

The gift is turning taste into value. The work is spending in line with your values, not your moods. Practical step: wait 48 hours before any non-essential purchase above a set amount.

What does Venus in the 3rd house mean?

Venus in the 3rd house means you love through words and everyday connection. You tend to speak and write gracefully, enjoy siblings, neighbours and local life, and are attracted to clever conversation. Love letters and messages matter to you. The shadow is flattery, gossip, or keeping relationships at the level of chat.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 3rd house had passed the bottom of the chart (the IC) a few hours before birth, so these are mostly night births.

What it is like. The 3rd covers communication, learning, siblings and short trips. People with this placement often have warm sibling bonds, enjoy writing and are talented at diplomacy and persuasion. They may meet partners locally, at school or through messages. The risk is preferring pleasant talk to difficult conversations.

The gift is kindness in language. The work is saying the hard thing kindly. Practical step: write the message you have been avoiding, then send it.

What does Venus in the 4th house mean?

Venus in the 4th house means home is your source of pleasure and beauty. You tend to invest love in family, decorating and creating a peaceful private life, and you may have warm memories of a parent or childhood home. Comfort later in life is a traditional theme. The shadow is retreating into home to avoid the outside world.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 4th house was below the horizon, approaching the lowest point of the chart, so these are mostly evening and night births. The 4th is an angular house, so Venus is prominent here even though it was hidden.

What it is like. The 4th covers home, family, roots and private life. People with this placement often love entertaining at home, collecting meaningful objects and keeping family traditions. They may come from an artistic family or have had a parent who was the gentle one. The risk is idealising family, or making home so comfortable that growth happens elsewhere.

The gift is a home that heals people. The work is letting home be lived in, not just admired. Practical step: invite someone over without tidying first.

What does Venus in the 5th house mean?

Venus in the 5th house means romance, creativity and pleasure flow easily. This is Venus's joy in Hellenistic astrology, where it is happiest. You love play, art, flirtation, children and celebration, and creative work comes naturally. The shadow is chasing pleasure, drama or new romance at the expense of commitment.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 5th house was below the western horizon, a few hours after setting, so most of these are evening births. Venus rejoices in the 5th house, the place of Good Fortune, in the Hellenistic doctrine of planetary joys (Brennan, Hellenistic Astrology, 2017).

What it is like. The 5th covers romance, creativity, children, hobbies and fun. People with this placement are often natural artists, performers or hosts, and fall in love easily. They may have a close and joyful relationship with children. The risk is loving the feeling of falling in love more than the person.

The gift is joy that others want to share. The work is turning romance into partnership. Practical step: keep one creative project going alongside your relationship, so neither has to supply all the joy.

What does Venus in the 6th house mean?

Venus in the 6th house means you find pleasure in useful work and daily routines. You tend to have good relationships with colleagues, enjoy a pleasant workplace, and show love through practical care. Romance may start at work. The shadow is overworking to be loved, or indulgence that affects health.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 6th house had set within a few hours before birth, so these are mostly late-afternoon and evening births. Hellenistic astrology called the 6th the house of Bad Fortune, a cadent place where a benefic helps quietly.

What it is like. The 6th covers daily work, health, service, pets and employees. People with this placement often work in beauty, wellness, design or caring professions, and they make any workplace kinder. They show love through acts of service. The risk is giving too much at work, or using sweets, shopping and comfort to cope with stress.

The gift is making daily life pleasant for everyone. The work is receiving care too. Practical step: build one pleasure into each workday that is for you alone.

What does Venus in the 7th house mean?

Venus in the 7th house means relationships are where you shine. You tend to attract kind, attractive or artistic partners, value harmony in partnership, and are skilled at diplomacy and collaboration. Marriage and business partnership are important themes. The shadow is depending on a partner for happiness or avoiding conflict.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 7th house was low in the west at birth and about to set, so these are mostly afternoon and early-evening births. Venus is the natural ruler of the 7th (through Libra), and in Vedic astrology it is the significator of the spouse.

What it is like. The 7th covers marriage, committed partnerships, contracts and open enemies. People with Venus here often marry for love and beauty, and they work well in partnerships of any kind. They are natural mediators and hosts. A Jyotish maxim warns that a significator in its own house can overload it (karako bhava nashaya), so tradition also cautions against expecting the partner to supply everything.

The gift is grace in partnership. The work is staying yourself inside the "we". Practical step: keep one interest and one friendship that is fully yours.

Partnership as completion. For this Venus, partnership is not just wanted, it is part of how you feel complete. Relationships are where Venus is most at home, which is why you attract easily, and why learning to be whole on your own makes your partnerships better rather than weaker.

Venus in the 7th house: common questions

  • What happens if Venus is in the 7th house? Relationships tend to come easily, partners are often attractive or artistic, and you grow through partnership. Watch for losing yourself in a partner or avoiding necessary conflict.
  • Is Venus in the 7th house good for marriage? Traditionally yes. It is one of the classic signatures of a loving marriage, though aspects from Saturn, Mars or the outer planets change how it plays out.

What does Venus in the 8th house mean?

Venus in the 8th house means love is deep, intimate and transformative. You are drawn to intensity, emotional honesty and sexual connection, and relationships often involve shared resources. Money may come through partners, inheritance or investments. The shadow is possessiveness or love tangled with power and money.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 8th house was in the western sky at birth, a few hours from setting, so these are mostly afternoon births.

What it is like. The 8th covers intimacy, sex, shared money, inheritance and crisis. People with Venus here rarely want shallow relationships, and they may experience love as life-changing, for better or worse. They can be skilled with other people's money and comfortable with taboo subjects. Our article on Venus in the 8th house: toxic love or soulmates? explores the relationship patterns in depth.

The gift is intimacy that transforms. The work is to keep love and control separate. Practical step: make joint financial arrangements explicit, even in a loving relationship.

What does Venus in the 9th house mean?

Venus in the 9th house means you love what broadens your world. You tend to be drawn to travel, foreign cultures, philosophy and partners from different backgrounds, and you find beauty in ideas and faith. Love may come through study or travel. The shadow is idealising the distant over the close.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 9th house had culminated (crossed the top of the chart) a few hours before birth, so these are mostly late-morning and afternoon births.

What it is like. The 9th covers higher learning, travel, belief and publishing. People with this placement often marry across cultures, fall in love abroad, or find a partner who is also a teacher. They may work in education, publishing, tourism or art connected to other cultures. The risk is restlessness: the next place or idea always looks more beautiful.

The gift is love that expands both people. The work is finding the adventure at home. Practical step: learn something new with your partner rather than away from them.

What does Venus in the 10th house mean?

Venus in the 10th house means your public life is graced by charm and taste. Venus was near the top of the sky at birth, so people tend to see you as attractive, diplomatic and likeable. Careers in the arts, beauty, diplomacy, design or public relations often suit you. Yes, it is generally a good placement for reputation.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 10th house culminated within a few hours after birth, so most of these are morning to early-afternoon births. An elevated Venus is traditionally one of its most visible positions.

What it is like. The 10th covers career, status and public image. People with this placement often succeed through relationships, aesthetic sense or charm, and are popular with colleagues and the public. Some are known for their looks or style. The risk is relying on likeability, or choosing a partner who fits your public image.

The gift is a reputation built on grace. The work is substance behind the style. Practical step: invest in one hard professional skill that makes your charm more than surface.

What the house adds. The 10th is angular, so Venus here is visible: love, client relationships and professional honour get tangled more than in a quieter house. The ruler of your Midheaven still describes the job itself; Venus describes the style of authority you can sustain, which is why people with this placement often become the face of a brand or the mediator in an institution.

House rulership matters. If Venus rules your 7th, marriage and contracts colour the career; if it rules your 2nd, income follows taste and likeability; if it rules your 11th, networks are the ladder. Venus in its own signs (Taurus, Libra) wears this public role more easily than Venus in Aries or Scorpio, where the style is sharper. If your house system puts the Midheaven in a neighbouring house, read both.

Shadow and integration. The risk is performing agreeableness until the career becomes a costume, or using charm as a weapon when status is threatened. A useful question: would this work still feel true if nobody applauded its style?

How it tends to show up: public roles that reward diplomacy, design, hospitality, the arts or client-facing tact; a reputation that rises or falls with how fairly you treat partners and audiences; a parent or mentor whose taste or standing shaped your idea of success; and tension when the job demands a hardness this Venus doesn't enjoy.

Venus in the 10th house: common questions

  • What does Venus in the 10th house mean for marriage? It often links love and career: you may marry someone who helps your reputation or career, or a partner with status. The partnership tends to be visible to others.
  • Where will I meet my spouse if Venus is in the 10th house? Traditionally through work, career events, professional networks or your public role. Someone senior or well-known is a classic signature, though the rest of the chart matters.
  • Is it good to have Venus in the 10th house? Generally yes: it favours public approval, artistic or diplomatic careers, and help from influential people.
  • Which celebrities have Venus in the 10th house? Five well-known people with Rodden AA birth data (from a birth certificate or similar birth record) were born with Venus in the 10th house (Placidus houses), as calculated by our chart engine from their recorded birth times: Albert Einstein, Vincent van Gogh, Anne Frank, Salvador Dalí and Robin Williams. Birth data from Astro-Databank (astro.com), Rodden rating AA. Houses depend on the exact birth time, so a time a few minutes out can move a planet into a neighbouring house.
  • What does Venus transiting the 10th house mean? A short, favourable window for your public image: good for interviews, presentations, networking and being noticed by people in authority. Venus moves quickly, so it passes in weeks.
  • Does the sign change Venus in the 10th house? Yes, the sign describes the style. In Libra or Taurus, Venus is in its own sign and diplomacy comes easily. In Scorpio or Aries, the public charm is sharper and more intense. In Virgo, appeal comes through competence and service. In Pisces, its sign of exaltation, it comes through imagination and empathy.
  • What does it mean to have venus in the 10th house? Venus in the 10th house means your public life is graced by charm and taste. The house depends on birth time.
  • What happens if venus is in 10th house? Venus in the 10th house means your public life is graced by charm and taste. The house depends on birth time.

What does Venus in the 11th house mean?

Venus in the 11th house means friendship and community bring you joy. You tend to have many friends, enjoy groups and networks, and may meet partners through friends. Your hopes for the future often involve beauty, art or relationships. The shadow is spreading affection thinly or confusing friendship and romance.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 11th house had risen a few hours before birth and was climbing toward the top of the chart, so these are mostly morning births.

What it is like. The 11th covers friends, groups, patrons and long-term goals. People with this placement are often well-liked in communities, generous friends, and good at building social networks. Love may begin as friendship. The risk is staying in the friend zone when you want more, or prioritising popularity over intimacy.

The gift is a social world full of affection. The work is depth with a few. Practical step: make one friendship a priority this month with regular one-to-one time.

What does Venus in the 12th house mean?

Venus in the 12th house means your love is private, compassionate and sometimes hidden. You may love quietly, give without recognition, or keep relationships secret. Beauty is found in solitude, art and spirituality. Venus is not malefic here: in Vedic astrology this is considered one of its best houses.

Where it was in the sky. Venus in the 12th house rose within a few hours before birth, so most of these are dawn or morning births.

What it is like. The 12th covers privacy, retreat, institutions, the unconscious and self-undoing. People with Venus here often have rich imaginations, artistic or spiritual depth, and great compassion. Their romantic lives may involve secrecy, sacrifice or unrequited love. They can also find great pleasure in solitude. The risk is loving people who are unavailable, or hiding their own needs.

The gift is love that asks for nothing. The work is letting yourself be seen. Practical step: tell a partner or friend one private wish.

What the house adds. The 12th is a cadent house, so results tend to arrive indirectly. Money and marriage still happen, but filtered through privacy, sacrifice or a need for distance that others can misread.

House rulership matters. If Venus rules your 7th, the partnership itself lives in the 12th: a private union, a spiritual marriage, or a fear of being fully seen by a spouse. If it rules your 2nd, income may come from behind-the-scenes work such as charities, hospitals or film. If it rules your 5th, creativity and children carry the same veil. Contacts with Neptune and the condition of the 12th-house ruler show whether the fog is mystical, addictive or simply private.

Shadow and integration. The pattern to watch is idealising someone unavailable and calling it fate, or giving until there is nothing left. Integration means a locked door you choose, not a disappearance driven by fear: if you hide a relationship out of shame, name the shame; if you protect it because it feels sacred, be honest with yourself about the cost.

How it tends to show up: art, music or care work done without needing credit; attraction to people or places that can't be fully public; solitude used as a way to recover rather than a rejection of others; favours or money through hidden channels (read contracts carefully); and dreams, film and spiritual practice as languages of love.

Venus in the 12th house: common questions

  • Is Venus in the 12th house malefic? No. Venus is a natural benefic. In Western astrology the 12th is a hidden, difficult house (Saturn's joy), so Venus works privately. In Vedic astrology Venus is traditionally considered good in the 12th, the house of bed pleasures and spending.
  • Why is Venus "exalted" in the 12th house? Strictly, Venus is exalted in a sign (Pisces), not a house. The saying comes from the Vedic "cosmic person" (kalapurusha) scheme, where the 12th house corresponds to Pisces, Venus's exaltation sign. That is why Venus is said to be at home in the 12th. See the Vedic note.
  • Why is Venus good in the 12th house? Because the 12th governs private pleasure, rest, spiritual experience and spending, all of which Venus naturally enjoys.
  • Where will I meet my partner with Venus in the 12th house? Traditionally in private or secluded settings: retreats, hospitals, spiritual communities, abroad, or behind the scenes. Sometimes through a secret or slow-burning connection.
  • Which celebrities have Venus in the 12th house? Six well-known people with Rodden AA birth data (from a birth certificate or similar birth record) were born with Venus in the 12th house (Placidus houses), as calculated by our chart engine from their recorded birth times: Grace Kelly, Arthur Conan Doyle, Penélope Cruz, Cher, Tony Blair and Laurence Olivier. Birth data from Astro-Databank (astro.com), Rodden rating AA. Houses depend on the exact birth time, so a time a few minutes out can move a planet into a neighbouring house.

Venus–Sun aspects

Ephemeris facts. Venus meets the Sun twice in each 583.87-day cycle. At the inferior conjunction, Venus is between Earth and Sun and retrograde. At the superior conjunction, it is on the far side of the Sun and direct. In 1950–2050 there were 64 inferior and 63 superior conjunctions:

Date (UT) Type Venus at
3 Jun 2020 Inferior conjunction (mid-retrograde) 13°36' Gemini
26 Mar 2021 Superior conjunction 5°50' Aries
9 Jan 2022 Inferior conjunction (mid-retrograde) 18°43' Capricorn
22 Oct 2022 Superior conjunction 29°27' Libra
13 Aug 2023 Inferior conjunction (mid-retrograde) 20°28' Leo
4 Jun 2024 Superior conjunction 14°30' Gemini
23 Mar 2025 Inferior conjunction (mid-retrograde) 2°39' Aries
6 Jan 2026 Superior conjunction 16°22' Capricorn
24 Oct 2026 Inferior conjunction (mid-retrograde) 0°45' Scorpio
12 Aug 2027 Superior conjunction 19°07' Leo
1 Jun 2028 Inferior conjunction (mid-retrograde) 11°26' Gemini
23 Mar 2029 Superior conjunction 3°29' Aries
6 Jan 2030 Inferior conjunction (mid-retrograde) 16°16' Capricorn
20 Oct 2030 Superior conjunction 27°06' Libra

Morning and evening star. After an inferior conjunction, Venus rises before the Sun as the morning star. After a superior conjunction, it sets after the Sun as the evening star. Whether Venus is a morning or an evening star on a given date is the same everywhere on Earth. What changes with your latitude is how high Venus climbs above the horizon and how long it stays visible before sunrise or after sunset, so the same apparition can look very different from Sydney and from London. Traditional astrologers treated the morning star as more assertive and the evening star as more receptive. Modern astrologers (following Arielle Guttman and others) use the phase as a guide to how Venus is expressed.

The eight-year pattern. Five Venus–Sun cycles take 2919.3 days (7.99 years), almost exactly eight years, so Venus returns to nearly the same zodiac position on nearly the same date eight years later, a couple of degrees further back each time. Look at the table: the inferior conjunction of 3 Jun 2020 at 13°36' Gemini recurs on 1 Jun 2028 at 11°26' Gemini. The five inferior conjunctions in each eight years trace a five-pointed pattern around the zodiac, the "pentagram of Venus".

Venus conjunct Sun

What does Venus conjunct Sun mean in a natal chart? Venus conjunct Sun puts charm and identity together: warmth, a love of beauty and a strong wish to be liked. You express yourself through charm, beauty, relationships or art, and you need to be liked to feel yourself. Very close (cazimi) conjunctions were traditionally considered a strength; wider ones (combust) can make it harder to see your own worth objectively. The conjunction fuses your way of loving and valuing with your sense of self, so the two act as one drive that is hard to pull apart.

Exact dates from our chart engine (UT): most recent 6 Jan 2026 (Venus 16°22' Capricorn, Sun 16°22' Capricorn); next 24 Oct 2026 (Venus 0°45' Scorpio, Sun 0°45' Scorpio); 12 Aug 2027 (Venus 19°07' Leo, Sun 19°07' Leo); 1 Jun 2028 (Venus 11°26' Gemini, Sun 11°26' Gemini). The engine found 127 exact Venus–Sun conjunctions between 1950 and 2050. Venus is within 8½° of the Sun (the traditional combustion zone) in 13.12% of births, and within 17 arcminutes (the traditional cazimi, "in the heart of the Sun") in only 0.436%.

Venus sextile Sun: not possible

Can Venus be sextile the Sun? No. Venus never gets far enough from the Sun: its greatest elongation in our chart engine's data peaks at 47°, and the engine reports the sextile as unreachable for this pair. The only major aspect Venus makes to the Sun is the conjunction (see Venus conjunct Sun).

Venus square Sun: not possible

Can Venus be square the Sun? No. Venus never gets far enough from the Sun: its greatest elongation in our chart engine's data peaks at 47°, and the engine reports the square as unreachable for this pair. The only major aspect Venus makes to the Sun is the conjunction (see Venus conjunct Sun).

Venus trine Sun: not possible

Can Venus be trine the Sun? No. Venus never gets far enough from the Sun: its greatest elongation in our chart engine's data peaks at 47°, and the engine reports the trine as unreachable for this pair. The only major aspect Venus makes to the Sun is the conjunction (see Venus conjunct Sun).

Venus opposite Sun: not possible

Can Venus be opposite the Sun? No. Venus never gets far enough from the Sun: its greatest elongation in our chart engine's data peaks at 47°, and the engine reports the opposition as unreachable for this pair. The only major aspect Venus makes to the Sun is the conjunction (see Venus conjunct Sun).

Venus quincunx Sun: not possible

Can Venus be quincunx the Sun? No. Venus never gets far enough from the Sun: its greatest elongation in our chart engine's data peaks at 47°, and the engine reports the quincunx as unreachable for this pair. The only major aspect Venus makes to the Sun is the conjunction (see Venus conjunct Sun).

Venus aspects in the birth chart

What do Venus aspects mean? An aspect links Venus's desire for love, beauty and value to another planet's function. Conjunctions fuse the two, trines and sextiles let affection flow easily, and squares, oppositions and quincunxes create tension that makes love more complicated and more interesting. We count an aspect within 8° when the Sun, Moon, Ascendant, MC or Descendant is involved and 6° between planets, and call it "exact" only within 1°.

Where each aspect lives on this site. Aspects are covered on the hub of the faster planet. Venus hosts its aspects to the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and the North Node. Venus–Moon is on the Moon hub and Venus–Mercury is on the Mercury hub. Venus is fast, so these aspects last days rather than years. The cycles below are averages of the exact dates over 1950–2050.

Venus–Pluto aspects

Venus meets Pluto about every 367 days, and in between it makes each of the other aspects, usually once each, more often in a retrograde year:

Venus conjunct Pluto

Venus–Mars aspects

Venus and Mars meet far less often than Venus meets the outer planets, about every 2.1 years (767 days), because Mars also moves fairly quickly in the same direction, so Venus takes longer to catch it.

Venus conjunct Mars

What does Venus conjunct Mars mean in a natal chart? Venus conjunct Mars fuses love with desire: strong attraction, passion and creative energy. The conjunction fuses your way of loving and valuing with your drive, so the two act as one drive that is hard to pull apart.

Exact dates from our chart engine (UT): most recent 8 Jan 2026 (Venus 18°09' Capricorn, Mars 18°09' Capricorn); next 25 Nov 2027 (Venus 29°28' Sagittarius, Mars 29°28' Sagittarius); 14 Jun 2028 (Venus 4°39' Gemini, Mars 4°39' Gemini); 7 Sep 2028 (Venus 2°02' Leo, Mars 2°02' Leo). Venus square Mars

What does Venus square Mars mean in a natal chart? Venus square Mars makes attraction stormy, because desire and affection compete, which brings both passion and conflict. It creates sparks and friction, an on-off chemistry that can be very attractive. The square sets your way of loving and valuing against your drive; the friction is uncomfortable and turns into drive once you work with it.

Exact dates from our chart engine (UT): most recent 29 Jul 2026 (Venus 21°14' Virgo, Mars 21°14' Gemini); next 10 Oct 2026 (Venus 7°21' Scorpio, Mars 7°21' Leo); 16 Jan 2027 (Venus 10°10' Sagittarius, Mars 10°10' Virgo); 23 Jun 2027 (Venus 18°00' Gemini, Mars 18°00' Virgo). Venus trine Mars

Exact dates from our chart engine (UT): most recent 22 May 2025 (Venus 16°00' Aries, Mars 16°00' Leo); next 8 Feb 2027 (Venus 5°11' Capricorn, Mars 5°11' Virgo); 14 May 2027 (Venus 0°08' Taurus, Mars 0°08' Virgo); 12 Feb 2029 (Venus 13°54' Aquarius, Mars 13°54' Libra). The engine found 126 exact Venus–Mars trines between 1950 and 2050.

Venus opposite Mars

What does Venus opposite Mars mean in a natal chart? Venus opposite Mars experiences love as a pull between attraction and tension, with partners who mirror your own desire. The opposition pulls your way of loving and valuing and your drive in opposite directions, often through other people, so the task is balance rather than picking a side.

Exact dates from our chart engine (UT): most recent 12 Dec 2024 (Venus 5°58' Aquarius, Mars 5°58' Leo); next 19 Mar 2027 (Venus 21°59' Aquarius, Mars 21°59' Leo); 25 Mar 2029 (Venus 5°03' Aries, Mars 5°03' Libra); 3 Apr 2031 (Venus 21°27' Taurus, Mars 21°27' Scorpio). Venus quincunx Mars

What does Venus quincunx Mars mean in a natal chart? Venus quincunx Mars makes what you want and what you value hard to match, so relationships need constant tuning. Venus–Chiron and Venus–North Node

  • Venus–Chiron links love to old wounds: sensitivity about being lovable, and the ability to heal others through kindness. Venus met Chiron at 25°25' Aries on 26 Mar 2026, and its 2026 retrograde brings 3 exact oppositions: 10 Sep 2026 at 0°15' Scorpio; 28 Oct 2026 at 28°15' Libra; 29 Nov 2026 at 26°56' Libra.
  • Venus–North Node suggests relationships and values are part of your life direction. Venus met the mean North Node on 18 Feb 2026 (9°37' Pisces), and next meets it on 17 Mar 2027.

Venus with the Moon and Mercury

  • Moon–Venus: emotional warmth and a need for affection. Covered on the Moon hub.
  • Mercury–Venus: graceful speech and artistic thinking. They never get far enough apart for a square or opposition, so only the conjunction and sextile are possible. Covered on the Mercury hub.

Venus in compatibility and synastry

How is Venus used in compatibility? In synastry (comparing two charts), Venus shows what each person finds attractive and how they like to be loved. The strongest classic contacts are one person's Venus with the other's Mars (attraction), Sun (admiration), Moon (affection and comfort) or Ascendant (physical attraction).

Which Venus signs go well together? Traditionally, Venus signs of the same element share a love language: fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) loves through enthusiasm, earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) through reliability and touch, air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) through conversation, and water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) through emotional closeness. Fire–air and earth–water pairs are traditionally considered complementary. Opposite signs attract and challenge each other. Venus signs alone are only part of the story: a full comparison looks at every planet and angle.

Venus–Pluto, Venus–Saturn and Venus–Uranus in synastry bring intensity, commitment or excitement respectively. Our articles on Venus trine Pluto in synastry and related synastry contacts go deeper, and a compatibility reading compares two full charts.

Your Venus return

When is my Venus return? About once a year, when Venus comes back to its natal position. Unlike the Sun, Venus does not return on your birthday: its speed changes through the cycle and it spends 42.1 days retrograde on average every 19.2 months, so the return can fall weeks or months away from your birthday.

How it repeats. In a year when Venus turns retrograde across your natal degree, it makes more than one exact return. The eight-year pattern also matters here: five Venus–Sun cycles take 2919.3 days, just under eight years, so Venus's position on your birthday nearly repeats every eight years, and so does the rough timing of your Venus return. Your timing report gives your exact dates.

What it is like. Astrologers who use Venus returns read them as a reset for love, money and pleasure, a good moment to reflect on what you value and how you want to be loved in the coming year. A Venus return during a retrograde stretches that reflection over several weeks.

Venus retrograde

What does Venus retrograde mean? Venus appears to move backward for about 42.1 days every 583.9 days (about 19.2 months), so only 7.2% of people are born with it retrograde. Natally it suggests that love and values are worked out inwardly and may develop unconventionally. As a transit it is traditionally a review period for relationships, money and aesthetics.

Ephemeris facts. Over 1900–2100 Venus completed 126 retrograde periods lasting 40.9–43.2 days, spaced 579.6–588 days apart. Because of the eight-year pattern, retrogrades fall in the same signs every eight years, slipping slowly backward through the zodiac: Scorpio and Libra in 2018 and 2026, Gemini in 2020 and 2028, Capricorn in 2021 and 2029, and Leo in 2023 and 2031.

The 2026 Venus retrograde. Venus turned retrograde on 3 Oct 2026 at 8°29' Scorpio and turns direct on 14 Nov 2026 at 22°52' Libra, passing between Earth and Sun on 24 Oct 2026 at 0°45' Scorpio. It squares Pluto 3 times along the way. The retrograde matters most if you have a planet or angle in that stretch of Libra and Scorpio.

Which month is lucky for Virgo in 2026? Sun-sign forecasts are a weak guide. Traditionally, Venus passing through your own sign is pleasant, and in 2026 Venus was in Virgo during 9 Jul 2026 – 6 Aug 2026. The months that matter for you depend on your full chart; your timing report calculates them.

Natal Venus retrograde. Traditional astrologers read a retrograde planet as less able to act in obvious ways. Modern astrologers read natal Venus retrograde as values that do not match the mainstream: you may have unusual tastes, revisit past relationships, or take longer to know what you want.

Vedic note: Venus (Shukra) in sidereal astrology

This site uses the tropical zodiac. Vedic (Jyotish) astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, offset on 8 Oct 2026 by 24.23° (Lahiri ayanamsa), so Venus was at 13°48' Libra sidereal (in its own sign) while tropical Venus was in Scorpio. Your Vedic Venus sign is often one sign earlier than your Western one.

  • Dignities. Shukra rules Taurus and Libra (moolatrikona in Libra), is exalted in Pisces (deepest at 27°) and debilitated in Virgo (deepest at 27°), in both systems. Venus is debilitated in Virgo because Virgo is Mercury's sign of analysis and detail, opposite Pisces where Venus's boundless love is exalted. Debilitation can be cancelled (neecha bhanga) by other factors, so it is never judged alone.
  • Venus in the 12th house is traditionally favourable in Jyotish, because the 12th is the house of bed pleasures, spending and liberation. The 12th house of the kalapurusha (cosmic person) is Pisces, Venus's exaltation sign.
  • Venus in the 12th from the Moon. Any planet except the Sun in the 12th sign from the Moon forms Anapha yoga (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra; Phaladeepika). With Venus, it is traditionally read as charm, good taste and enjoyment of comfort. Dignity and other factors modify it.
  • Significations. Venus is the karaka (significator) of the spouse (especially in a man's chart), love, comfort, vehicles, arts and luxury.
  • Venus mahadasha lasts 20 years in the Vimshottari system, the longest of the nine dashas.

Venus FAQ

What is the house of Venus in astrology?

Venus rules Taurus and Libra, so in the natural zodiac it is associated with the 2nd house (money, values) and the 7th house (partnership). Its joy is in the 5th house (pleasure and romance).

Which house gives love marriage?

The 5th house (romance) and 7th house (marriage) are the traditional houses. A link between the two, through their rulers or planets such as Venus, is the classic signature of marrying for love. No single placement guarantees it.

What is the luckiest Venus placement in a birth chart?

By tradition, Venus in Taurus, Libra or Pisces, in a night chart (Venus is the nocturnal benefic), and in the 1st, 4th, 5th, 7th, 10th or 11th house, conjunct or trine Jupiter, and free of hard Saturn, Mars or outer-planet aspects.

What's the worst Venus placement?

No placement is simply bad. Tradition considers Venus most challenged in Aries, Scorpio (detriment) or Virgo (fall), in the 6th, 8th or 12th house in Western astrology, or under hard aspects from Saturn or Pluto. These describe love that has to be worked at, often with deep rewards.

What are the most attractive Venus signs?

Attractiveness is not a sign. Venus in Taurus, Libra and Pisces are traditionally associated with grace and charm, Venus in Leo with glamour, and Venus in Scorpio with magnetism. Venus in the 1st or 10th house, or conjunct the Ascendant, makes charm more visible.

In which house is Venus strongest?

The 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th (angular houses) make Venus most prominent. The 5th is its joy, and in Vedic astrology Venus gains directional strength (dig bala) in the 4th house and is considered especially comfortable in the 12th.

Which house is very bad for Venus?

None, but Western tradition considers the 6th, 8th and 12th harder for Venus, and in Vedic astrology Venus in the 6th is traditionally considered weak. These placements make love more private, work-related or intense rather than impossible.

Which Venus signs are compatible?

Same-element Venus signs share a love language, and fire–air and earth–water pairs are traditionally complementary. See Venus compatibility.

What happens when Jupiter meets Venus?

In the sky, two of the brightest planets appear close together. In a natal chart, the conjunction is a classic signature of generosity and good fortune in love and money. See Venus–Jupiter aspects.

What happens when Venus squares Pluto?

Natally, intense, transformative love and strong attraction to powerful people, with a risk of jealousy or power struggles. As a transit, a period when relationships and money matters go deeper. See Venus–Pluto aspects.

How long does Venus stay in one sign?

Usually a few weeks (a median of 24.3–25 days per visit), but up to 126 days when it turns retrograde in the sign.

Sources and method

  • Positions and dates: every astronomical figure on this page comes from Astrology-API.io v3, the chart engine behind natalblueprint.com, queried in October 2026 with our report settings: tropical zodiac, geocentric apparent positions, Placidus houses, mean lunar node, UT. Sign changes, stations and retrograde periods use its mundane-events search (1900–2100); exact aspect dates use its aspect-passages search (1950–2050); conjunctions with the Sun, greatest elongations and the time spent near the Sun use its Sun-conjunction search (1950–2050); today's, sidereal and conjunction-day positions use its global-positions data. Averages, ranges and percentages are simple arithmetic on those dates.
